Hi, my name’s Jenny.
Thank you for checking out my website. You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for a comprehensive review of WindPlans, the homemade wind generator plans, written by Les and Jane.
First of all, I want to let you know that I’ll be giving you an unbiased and honest review of Les and Jane’s wind generator plans. You’ll be reading the essential details of the product that you’ll want to know before you purchase the plans for yourself.
This is a review site, though, so if you’re looking for the official WindPlans website, then click here.
I’m sure you’ll want to know why I made this website. When I was looking around for wind generator plans, there weren’t very many reviews done on Wind Plans, and since I was impressed by their product, I decided to write up one quickly to help those of you who are in the same position as I was.
I initially was researching windmill or wind generators, but was really shocked at how expensive they are. You can expect to spend $3,000 to $6,000 for one windmill. That seemed like too much to me.
In the process of my research, I discovered the site for Wind Plans, which led me to more investigation into homemade wind generator plans. I did much investigation to find good plans, something that I could do, something easy to understand, for someone with no technical or building knowledge.
And there are many reasons to want to consider wind generators for yourself. I wanted to save money on electric bills, and some day, eventually, to get completely off the grid. I also hate the thought of having to rely on big power companies for all my electricity.
I wanted to cut the ties. There’s lots of other reasons, too. Wanting to become self-sufficient, to leave less of a carbon footprint, to be environmentally conscious. But also, think of those massive IRS refunds!
I would never have thought that I could build my own wind power generator. But Wind Plans convinced me different. They’ve sold over 10,000 copies of their plans, and thousands of people have successfully built their own windmills and solar panels from their plans.
Les and Jane, the authors of Wind Plans, have lived totally off the grid for 15 years. They provide all of their own electricity with their wind energy generators and solar panels. So they’ve had 15 years to fine-tune these plans, because they use them for their own house!
The ebook/plans include a complete set of plans to build your own wind generator from scratch. It will cost you less than $100(!), can be made in a weekend, and the supplies are easy to find.

The thing I liked about the Wind Plans is that they’re really easy to follow. I think any beginner (like me) could follow them. Les himself admits that he is not a builder, or a technical kind of guy, but he finds the windmill project really easy to do.
This wind powered generator produces over 1,000 watts of power and endures even the most harsh climate (Les and Jane live in Canada).
What do you get with WindPlans?
This is what you get:
- 1,000 watt diy wind generator plans
- Easy to follow step by step manual and plans with diagrams
- 3 hours of videos that show you how to build the wind power system
- How to get IRS refunds
- How to find inexpensive materials
- Calculating your local wind speeds
- Online support
- 60-day money back guarantee with no questions asked
The ebook itself has over 100 pages of information and diagrams. It goes over things like the motors, the batteries, parts lists, propellers, hubs, charge controllers, wiring, what tools you’ll need, and more.
I was also impressed by the bonuses. The one that most impressed me was another ebook on how to build solar panels. This is another product all by itself!
There’s also an ebook on renewable energy solutions which includes how to find free solar panels, how to have the electric company send you a check every month, etc. And another book on how to make your own biodiesel. So they’re really good bonuses, I think.
Be sure to check out the customer feedback. There are two nice videos from happy customers, and some testimonials, too.
Bad points about WindPlans
After searching long and hard, I did actually come up with a bad point. I must say that I don’t think that building a wind generator is quite as easy as it’s made out to be. It’s definitely doable, I think that almost anyone can build one, but the first one does require some work to actually build it and then figure out where it’s going to go.
BUT, this guide will definitely make your job a lot easier. Les and Jane Oke have tried everything, and they’ll present you with a lot of options, places to look for your supplies, alternatives to consider, etc.
Good points about WindPlans
- This is a really easy-to-read and follow product
- Costs under $100 to build
- All the supplies are readily available
- Anybody can do it!
- Produces over 1,000 watts of power
- Easy to build and assemble
I think that this is a very well produced and comprehensive guide to build your own wind powered generator. Wind Plans is easy to follow, good for a beginner, and is written by a couple who have personal hands-on experience with the generator, solar panels, and living off the grid. It has a great guarantee, comes at a very reasonable price with some great bonuses, and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
